88th Academy Awards predictions and winners

I'd been watching the Oscars, I think late 1990's, either 71st (1998) edition, or 72nd (1999) edition. I remember my mother, my two older brothers, my female cousin who is a nurse & I watched the 74th edition (2001)'s evening telecast. If my memory serves me right. It it aired around 8 PM and last around 12 midnight. It aired on RPN 9.

The following list is my predictions, and the same time, the winners of this year's Oscars.

Best Director:
Alejandro G. Iñárritu for The Revenant

Best Actress:
Brie Larson for Room as Joy "Ma" Newsome

Best Actor:
Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant as Hugh Glass

Best Animated Feature:
Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera for Inside Out

Best Animated Short Film:
Pato Escala Pierart and Gabriel Osorio Vargas for Bear Story

Manny Pacquiao and his thoughts on same-sex marriage.

As you may already know about the controversial statements uttered by senator -candidate, professional boxer, and Congressman Manny Pacquiao, regarding/about his thoughts on same-gender marriage.

Every person is entitled to his/her/their opinion. And I have nothing against the LGBT community.

Many people, especially from the LGBT group, angered/pissed on his statements.

But in my humble opinion, it (is) his use/choice of words that made him in hot water. On the next morning, he apologises.

On these videos regarding home-based jobs.

It's been a long time that I'm looking for a home-based job, even a sideline job. I'm a "messenger" in a condominium in Ortigas Center.

I don't have some of the requirements of the companies here in the Philippines that offer home-based jobs.

McDonald's Double Filet-O-Fish

I didn't know that McDonald's Double Filet-O-Fish is back. After I attended an Ash Wednesday mass held in Ortigas Park (article: 2016 Ash Wednesday), I decided to order Fillet-O-Fish meal from McDonald's in SM Megamall. When I was in queue/line, I noticed in their menu board that they offer Double Fillet-O-Fish, aside from Fillet-O-Fish.

I think McDonald's offer the Double Fillet-O-Fish only during Lent. I remember it was on their menu board last year.

The Double Filet-O-Fish has two patty of filleted fish. The taste is the same. The prices for regular fries and drink, medium fries and drink, and fries and drink are bit pricey/expensive.

2016 Ash Wednesday

This evening, I attended an Ash Wednesday on Ortigas Park. Ortigas Park is near my office. It is located between Ruby Road and F. Ortigas Avenue*.

The aforementioned mass is a 6 PM mass. The priest, I think and based on his accent, is of Indian descent. The mass itself ended at 7:30 PM. I arrived at the house where I live around at least 10 PM.

2016 Chinese/Lunar New Year: Year of the Fire Monkey

My paternal grandmother is a Filipino-Chinese. And my family don't celebrate Chinese/Lunar New Year.

I don't know whose idea to have an afternoon snack in the vacant lot. This vacant lot is just in front of our house. We live in Valenzuela City, and Binondo is in City of Manila. Binondo is referred as the city's Chinatown. I don't know exactly in Manila, but Binondo is located there.

Like I mentioned before. My parents, my older brother and his wife, my two nephews & I had an afternoon snack. We had Coke with ice, Regent's Tempura, two bags of popcorn (one is regular flavour, and the other is cheese flavour), and tikoy (naan gao or nian gao, in Cantonese).

HOOQ, iflix, and Netflix.

There are TV series/shows and movies are in HOOQ, are not in iflix. There are TV shows/series and movies are in iFlix are not in HOOQ.

I watched a second episode of Supergirl in HOOQ. The Filipino/Tagalog language film Metro Manila was also in HOOQ.

I watched the first eight (8) of episodes of the first (1st) season of Homeland in iflix. I also watched the Filipino psychological horror film The Road. Also in iflix, I watched the third (3rd) episode of the first season of The Muppets entitled "Bear Left Then Bear Write".

The Muppets is exclusive on iflix. Other shows that are exclusive on influx are as follows:
Mr. Robot;
Fargo;
Aquarius;
Minority Report;
Black Sails

The iflix users have the option to delete the TV series and movies they watched. While the HOOQ users have to delete the app itself, reinstall the app, and reenter their usernames/email and password.

Both HOOQ and iflix have feature that users can the "Download and Watch Offline" feature. I haven't tried this yet.

I haven't tried Netflix yet.
